How to install Cable Glands

Installation of Cable Glands depends on the type of joints you use, but basically the same. You need to comply with the relevant operating specifications, local regulations and manufacturer's Cable Glands installation instructions. Installation should only be carried out by technicians with experience and knowledge of cable sealing joints.

Note: Be careful not to damage loose incoming wires.

An introduction

Step 1: Turn off all electrical equipment and disconnect all live wires

Step 2: Make sure your cable sealing sleeve is compatible with your cable

Step 3: Keep cable sealing sleeve away from solvents, chemicals and dirt during installation

Install cable sealing sleeve

Step 1: Open the cable sealing sleeve and remove the nut.

Step 2: Strip the outer sheath of Cable glands to the same length as Cable Glands themselves. If there is internal metal armour, expose it.

Step 3: Insert the right end of the sealing sleeve into the cable.

Step 4: Spread the peeling sheath or armour evenly around the gland.

Step 5: Apply the nut and tighten it with a wrench to fix the gland in place.
